Stack them in a covered area and it doesn't matter.

Uncovered area, the bottom layer is cedar if I can manage it, and it has all the bark stripped off. Layers above are bark side up if I can manage it.

That is the best answer. Of couse even better would be:

"however the kid stacks it" :)

I tried a couple "Amish piles" this year.
Worked great untill they were under 3' of snow and I had to root around and break free all the frozen splits.

I forgot all my Amish Buds have a dozen bored Kids for such things.

Crap.
Back to stacking.;)

Stay safe!

You stack it however it fits best, but I usually try to go as much bark up as I can. If the rain is rolling off the bark where is it going? Just on to the wood lower down in the pile that is stacked bark down. Best to keep it covered good then it is a non issue.

thxs guys for the tips

I get so upset with the farmers up here. Today I found out that somebody is clearing a quarter section of complete bush. They don't save the wood up here they pile it and burn it all they want is the good soil. Its those damn potatoe guys and the colonies. Broke land goes for about $3500/acre. Bush land ain't much cheaper either, if its good soil they don't care. They buy out little farmers and just bulldoze the homestaeds for more land. They will gladly let you have the wood but they don't help you out much to get it. They just get in there with an excavator knock em down and dig out the stumps pile it and burn it. Can you tell I'm pissed. I'm going to try and get as much of it as I can. I need a harvester. :chainsaw::censored:
