I have a Stihl 461. It is all stock. Is there any benefit to adding a dual port or bark box muffler. Is it down to cool factor that it sounds cool by loudness or a true performance enhancer!
Should also get the heat out of the engine faster. The bark box seems to be one of those things where people love them or hate them.
Opening up the stock location accomplishes the same thing. A little smaller outlet diameter than a BB or SR is probably ok as well.
They are very loud. According to Treemonkey they decrease torque vs opening up the existing outlet.
Loud sucks when you been doing this too long! They are very loud. According to Treemonkey they decrease torque vs opening up the existing outlet.
I think my new 500 I is pretty damn loud stock.I love the straight shot on my 462. It is loud as heck though.
Well I tell you what it is a great cutting saw and fairly light. Buy one.I haven’t heard a 500 run yet. Only seen 2 in the store.
What is going down the road the Bark Box or the saw?I should add I have a Bark Box on my 400C. It's going down the road for next season.
The Straight shot is even more obnoxious noise wise.
Got one fresh new just broke in 500I coming from a local that's about to get lighter and louder, again. He already added the noise maker front cover so it's not my decision but we might revisit the stock cover and another side outlet. It's being built to carry the 28 or swap out to the 36 when needed. Fast won't be part of this package and loud isn't my decision here. If it were me the front cover would be gone. Triple outlets shouldn't be needed here.I think my new 500 I is pretty damn loud stock.
OP you will get an advantage by letting out more exhaust gasses faster.I have a Stihl 461. It is all stock. Is there any benefit to adding a dual port or bark box muffler. Is it down to cool factor that it sounds cool by loudness or a true performance enhancer!
