Has anybody seen a commercial for a mortgage co. featuring Bob Villa topiarying some large shrubs with a blue chain saw? I gotta get a saw like that. Any ideas on the model?

No idea, doesnt look like a Husky/jred, not a stihl, possibly Echo or Dolmar? perhaps Solo or shindaiwa?

Probably a Dolmar from what I can see, in Makita colors. thats the only brand of saw I know of that's blue like that.

I have seen the commercial about 3 times and havent been able to figure what saw it is either. I did do some browsing around on Mike's site and got into the jonsered's and was looking at the 451E, I cant remember but didnt the sprocket cover on Bob's commercial look like that?

It doesn't look much like my DCS 520i...except for the color

If Vila was using it I'am surprised it wasn't a Craftsman his favorite brand of tool because Sears pays him millions to promote their cheap tools

what's that grey lever-looking thing, coming up between the handle bar and the starter handle?

grey things

I think they are supposed to be exhaust pipes. Totally in the wrong area, but I can't imagine a mortgage company would care.

Every time an identifiable product is shown on TV or in a movie, it's company pays to have that product used. My guess is that they contact several chainsaw manufacturers asking for payment to feature their product, but since the ad was for a mortgage company, they all declined. In the absence of a paid product endorsement, the producers came up with a totally bogus chainsaw with colors and features that were not identifiable to any particular brand. Consequently what you see is a chainsaw that does not exist outside of that ad clip.

Yeah I was gonna say the gear sift too! Thats so you can cut soft wood in hi and hard wood down in low, really gives ya th etorque you need!

Bob is a real tool, but he has made it so weekend handymen and tool geeks are now considered respectable, if not "cool" at least. It used to be you'd tell a potential lady friend, sure I can put a new floor in for you and she might have been interested, now she says "will you be using a compund miter saw and bar clamps?"

Bob Vila is loathed by men that actually do construction work, I hate it when he says "we". What the fek have you done Bob? The real man is Norm, he can do it all, plus no one wants to strangle him. On a related topic, years ago I saw Bob falling a tree with the most retarded cuts of all time, I also saw a clip of his show when a couple of landscapers in running shoes were doing "treework". Does anyone out there remember this?

I was thinking you could start out in high until you got into the meat of the log, then a quick shift to low and your cutting again. Finish the cut with another shift into high.

OSA is right on the money. It is a 365. Well it could actually be a now discontinued 362xp or a 372xp with the low profile filter cover but it is definately that family of saws.[/QUOTE

It sure does look like one to me. Nice color!

I don't think it's an older model though.
