Help ! What model is this stihl?

Hi everyone, I just bought this saw and the model tag is Mia, the serial number starts with 1174 I think it is an 048 or maybe a 044mag? It has a 28 in bar and it has no problem when it's on the dogs going thru a maple stump 100% in wood .....any ideas.? Also looks like it may have had a compression knob at on time as seen on top a rubber gromat ??

Take the top cover off and see what the first four digits are on the part number of the cover

If you do not want to do that then just look at the first 4 digits of the part number on the brake handle.

It's the right cover, just not on right, and if you think it's running a 28 bar well, you need to get out more...

The rubber grommet was not for a compression release. That is where the screw goes that holds the top cover on.

Whoever sold the saw to you as a 044 or 048 was scamming you.

It's actually an 034. The air filter cover is too "deep" to be 026. The 026 also never had the carb adjust screws grommet in the filter cover - The carb adjust screws area is in the tank itself. Front muffler cover is also wrong for 026.

Welp, If JJ says it's an 034, then it's an 034. it has the same size cover as my 036. but it is not an 026

Whatever it is it's got a magnum filter cover that's good for an extra 10% hp, you can tell cause it looks like a hood scoop .

Most likely not. It has the old-style muffler and I don't think they are compatible with the Super and 036 cylinders without some kind of spacers on the front mounts (I could be mistaken on this though).

Na, It could be an 034, 036 or 034 Super, it’s the same muffler mine has. It’s not an 260/026, the muffler on the 026/260 has holes in pairs through the front guard, the 034,036 034s ect have 4 holes across through the front cover. Note the adjustment screws as JJ said above

Take the top plastic off it may help with ID

If you convert an 034 to an 036 you need spacers under the muffler between it and the crankcase, if you use the original 034 muffler.

When I first looked at it I thought about an 024 Super converted to 026 where a fitting top cover and filter cover are not simple.
