Has anyone here ever taken in an older boom to have it serviced. Say new cable and maybe hoses? I am curious as to about how much they charge for that.

Not cheap

It's real easy to sink 4 or 5 grand in a re-cable,re-hose job,x-ray the boom,rebuild the valves etc.etc.

Agree...cables usually run in the $2k range and the rest is eaten in the hoses, cylinder rebuilds etc. Some even run in the 6-10k easily. Pretty expensive but since your life depends on it, it is probably a good investment.
