I’m in the process of rebuilding a few older clutch covers for this series…with the plastic flag handle. Searching for the 503 70 40- 01 pulls up lots from eBay and even Amazon. But…they are ALL the wrong part. WTF? All the pictures show a completely different band.
what they have resembles a band for the 5 series. Anyone figured out what’s going on with these?

I think I just tossed a used band from a 272 cover that was broken in the bin. Top cover and band 272.

Can see your cover isnt like this 272 cover at top.

Last time I looked those bands were everywhere even in afm. If like one shown.

Dang...must be going blind.
The nos band I have is labeled 503 70 40-01 and I found that listing in several of the dozen or so IPLs from Barretts so stopped looking. I never saw th 503 57 22-02, sheesh...🙄
2 sources...$20 and $23. Thanks!

The early models with the metal flag (501 83 01-02 cover) are no NLA so old/used is all there is.
I have 2 crappy bands and still need one good one of those.

The 70 40 is a solid band while the 57 22 is slotted...interesting.

What confuses me is all the listings for the aftermarket version of the 70 40. What's up with that? And, no cross reference to the 57 22.
Seems the 57 22 also fits some 288s as well
I'm still looking but so far have found 4 other numbers for that style of band. Question is, are they all the same length? Close enough to interchange?
🤪

Bottom one is a Jonsered 630, 670. I could use that for a project I just got :p
