buffing?

Has anyone buffed the plastic on the Husky saws with a compound?I have never done this and I am wondering.Would you use a very soft wheel,and would it work?

I wouldn't see why this would not work. Although I have not done it on chainsaws, I have done it on plastic motorcross and enduro bikes I use to own. You have to use a soft wheel and very light compound, it wont remove really deep scratches though, but you can clean the plastic up a lot.

I am sure it would work although be careful you don't get the plastic hot and melt it a bit. I noticed a "mark" I made on top of my 7900 from holding the tach on it while tuning it. Basicallly made a not shiny spot. I am going to try a rag with plastic polish first, as it is not as risky. If it doesn't clean up fast enough I'l buff it a bit with tripoli.
