I needed some thoughts on how I could beef up a wood burning stove that has fire brick to burn a small amount of coal each night. I have heard of people burning a small amount of coal before bed time to keep the coals going till morning. I do not want to cause a problem with a wood burner because it got to hot and burned through. I do not have a stove yet but did not want to go to the expense of buying a coal burning if I did not have to.

Thanks

I burn coal in my us stove and my clayton witch works fine, at lest buy a stove that will burn coal, even a hot blast stove can burn coal. Trust me its worth spending the extra money on a coal burning stove. On the other hand a 200 pot belly stove will burn lump coal when you mix it with wood, mite not last for ever!
