Would someone please explain the difference between the old and new style crankshaft for a Stihl 066?
My aftermarket crank is too long on one side. VERY frustrating. My saw Serial # is 1264906##.
Is that old or new?

The old-school crank for the metal flywheel has a smaller flywheel side stub shaft and the crank is shorter overall since the older saw is narrower.

The poly-flywheel crank has the larger stub shaft which uses a larger flywheel side seal and is 4-5mm "wider."

Based on your serial # off the top of my head it appears that you need the old-school crank.
