don't stop now

Hey Yin, that is a nice looking wall. It looks as though it was designed with a Japanese Maple in mind. Why don't you, if not too much trouble, remove that leaning tree that the wall is built around. I guess that is the Elm in question. Replace it with a nice Acer palmatum dissectum 'Red Dragon'. That would be beautiful.

Or a 'Tamuke yama'

Or a 'Tamuke yama'

Elmore,
How much do those maples cost. They look really nice. Good work!

Cost? To you?

Man, they cost an arm and a leg, heh heh. Usually I give large discounts for parties with "Kerry/Edwards 2004" bumper stickers on their vehicles. Those with any indication of a "W" are hit with a huge surcharge and deposit fee for containers. Heh heh. :D

That's funny. My mom has a Kerry/Edwards t-shirt. It says "I actually voted for Kerry before I voted against him". How's that for funny?:D

In all seriousness, how much? When I buy a house, I will be looking to put in some as much grass-free landscaping as possible.

Costs vary

Some are relatively rare and naturally are more costly. Some are larger/older than others and are also more expensive. Seedlings, sexually produced are cheaper than grafted material. Quantity can sometimes get price breaks. New grafts are cheaper than 1 year grafts etc.. Let me know when you have a place to plant and I will help you out.

When ready, I will guide you in the placement of a tree. I don't know if it will fit but judging from some of your comments I would recommend a 35g to 45g plant, at least.

Elmore. Nice suggestion man looks like a really nice tree. Sweet fall colors :) I'll prolly give the Elm a season or two before I decide on removal. The maple will be my choice of replacement for sure if needed. Thanks.

Very Nice :)

That Japanese Look

Here are some pics that I made during the half-time of the Iron Bowl. Pictured is Acer palmatum dissectum 'Edgewood's Golden'. Fairly uncommon and a great laceleaf. Colored up beautifully this fall.

And here is the same maple in front of Acer japonicum 'O isame'. What a color combo.
