Maybe it is just perspective, but the pods look too big... everything else says Black locust (Robinia pseudoacacia). That was my first thought on the bark (that is hard to see with the vines) and form of the trees. The paired small thorns on the twigs are pretty definitive of Black locust.
 
Agree. It looks just like my back yard. About 80% of the trees in my yard are black locust of various sizes I’m pretty sure they are all growing from the root system of one big one right beside the house that’s about 48” DBH. There’s not a single pod on any of them, all males.

As far as fence posts go, I can vouch for that. Here’s one that’s probably been in the ground at least 100 years. The cavity in the tree branch from the fence post is probably 6” deep. The tree finally grew enough that it let go of the post and I was able to worry it out. With the dirt scraped off the bottom the wood looks like new.
