Maybe its just me but I used Oregon chain (only 3/8 ) till about a year ago, then tried some Carlton and switched to it, only because it seemed slightly smoother. Its been so long since I ran Stihl chain that I cant comment on it. I think the Oregon and Carlton chain that I have run are both good chain. Talking strictly softwood when I put on a fresh sg, ground chain of either make I expect to be able to fall timber for at least three hours or more with no loss in performance. Thats without having to cut any 'funny wood', like dead trees or pitchy hard limbs. I realize hardwood is a lot dif. and have to sharpen or change a lot more when I am cutting my firewood. I love to cut softwood:)
