Hi everyone,

What is this pitch stuff for the chainsaw?

what is the difference between 3/8 and .325?

Is one better than the other, can a saw run both by changing the bar?

I think that no one has answered your questions because they have been covered many times before. Use the search feature and you'll find plenty of answers.

As was already said, do a search, but quickly...
the pitch is the distance between rivets in the chain. .325-3/8-.404-etc. is the measurement in inches.

The gage is the thickness of the drivers. (and the slot in your bar) Again measured in inches.

Tons more info on chains available if you look around a little.

What I've always found confusing is the way the different companies label the different types of chains. I don't know why they can't use a standard system to identify chain styles. It would sure make life a lot easier for the end user when it comes time to choose a chain!
