Chain question

Don't chunk rocks at my inexperience. Everything I have run has been straight off the shelf and run em till they died. Now you folks done showed me there is room for improvement which makes life easier. Sooooo....
I have a ms 250 that I keep at the mill to clip and trim with. Started thinking this morning about a longer bar and picco 3/8 chain? Is it worth the effort and cost? What else would need to be changed?

Depending on what's on your 250 now, you would need to change the sprocket and or the clutch drum depending on whether it has a rim or spur sprocket.
