This may be off topic but it has to do with working on saws. Does anyone know whare I can buy a plier type ring compressor and other tools for saw work, thank's.

What i'm looking for John is a plier type piston ring compressor, kind of like snap-ring pliers with a removeable band that goes around the piston.

If you buy a Tecomec replacement piston/cylinder you'll get a good plastic ring compressor (plastic will not damage the piston). I haven't seen the band type in very small sizes.

I guess I'm just not good enough to do it without tools, besides I like good tools almost as much as good saws!

Tony is right about the plastic compressors and they are slippery enough to be self lubricating. Get ahold of Jeff Sikkema, he can set you up with them.

I find that my ol' fingers are best for cylinders with odd-shaped bases, and compressors are good for flat ones.
