You might want to look up the American chestnut foundation. My dad is a member and if I'm not mistaken for about a 100 dollar donation you can get 3 hybrid seeds. And after you plant them you are to give a status report of sorts every year as to the condition of the trees. Height,diameter just general information so they can monitor how the trees are making out. We are kicking around the idea of clearing some land just to start the hybrid seeds. But the foundation has alot of information about how obtain the hybrid seeds. You can also go to the Penn state Webinar website as they had a good seminar a couple months ago on the American chestnut .
