Perhaps I missed it in previous threads, but I use Rutland Creosote Remover or preventer or whatever, about a scoop (included in the container) per week. I brush once a year, and like the product says, it seems to turn the black tar into powdery flakes which brush down easily. I suppose I have 3-4 coffee cans full of powder each year to scoop out. My chimney is a two story masonry on the north side of the house. I try to burn it hot, but then, I don't want to burn a half cord every night.

Does anyone have any experience or opinions about the Rutland stuff?
