Chimney liner alternative

Has anyone had any experience with this type of liner? I went to install a 25ft Stainless liner last week and realized that i couldnt due to the fact that my boiler and fireplace converge into one flue. If I put the top plate on the chimney liner I would be completely blocking off my oil boiler. I know it's not code but I dont think blocking my boiler is code either. I was wondering if my draft would be horrible with this 5 foot extender. I have a Hearthstone Homestead which is notorious for smoke escaping out the front.

I'm pretty sure that is what is referred to as a corrugated or ribbed liner. I've been using one for years with no problem. The only thing is you have to use a poly brush on them as a steel brush will damage the liner.
