I have a forest full of dying pine, (bug) trying to stay on top i chip everything up to about 6" and split the rest. for this reason i want to buy a chipper.
I rented a Vermeer 625 for a week and know that it can do the job. However,
sometimes i hear that the Vermeer 625 is not a real good machine.
Right now there is a Morbark 2070 for sale with a 40 hp diesel and even though it is a bit too big (and heavy) for me, i was wondering how does this drum chipper compare to the 625 disk chipper. Is it more difficult to operate? will i have to duck when the stuff goes in?
my dilemma is that i can take a small and light chipper anywhere on my property, which may not be possible with the larger heavier unit.

the bad things i have heard about the Vermeer 620-625 is that it requires regular maintenance, i.e. auto feed problems etc. is that true?

any input would be appreciated.

Peter
