I have read in the past to clean out the stack the best way is to get a rooring fire and burn it out. But I afraid I will do damage to the damper wiring with the flames shooting out. What's the best way to accomplish this without scrubbing the stack with a brush? If I get a rooring fire will I do damage to the stove?

Don't leave the door wide open, just a crack will do the job. Much funner at night with friends and beer. My 6048 has been running 24/7 for 6 years and I have only cleaned with a brush a couple of times through the clean out in the back. No build up at all. It seems to clean its self quite well.
