Could someone please help me identify this tree

Heya people,
I've got a tree in the back garden that was cut down before I moved in, I want to do something with it but would like to know what kind of tree it is first.
Has anyone got any idea what it could be? It sadly has no leaves to identify it by so it might be a tough one

Be careful around those thorns, they can puncture everything from your skin to truck and tractor tires. The wood makes excellent fence posts or firewood, not the best material to feed a disc chipper....
