I have a 272xp prodject i've been working on for a while ive had it running a couple times but nothing more than trying to tune the carb something wasn't feeling right in my gut, so i tore it down again to check all the ports and bearings etc again and as i was cleaning the piston i discovered a crack a never noticed before, and i have had it apart multiple times so i don't know why i didn't see it before :dumb:. Anyway i've got a couple pics hear and i was wondering WTF would cuase a crack like this.

And also if it would be safe to put it in just to see if the saw will run and get the carb tunned, but i would not put any load on it just tuning and light piss reving lol.

Thin spot in the casting or excessive piston to cylinder wall clearance.

Ticking time bomb done run it till its replaced. Trust me it will explode shortly and damage much more then the piston.
