Has anybody been into or used one much? I have an older generation PP260, it
has a chromed cylinder, the main difference from a Wild Thing.
The newer models show up on Flea-bay & elsewhere now in running
condition, some models with bar nuts.

Current made units are garbage plain and simple regardless of color. Had a Woodshark made in 2001 that was a total POS, yes I know it's not a "Pro" model. My 4th stepfather had a "Pro" made in 1997 that functioned fine though it's life was short due to him force cutting and sawing through materials chainsaws weren't designed too.

the pp models also have av springs....

i have one in sears craftsman badging and have put nearly 50 gallons of mix through it... for whats its worth its been a good saw, one set of av springs and a proper carb adjustment...

ive cut shingles, dirty wood, rocks and other stuff not meant for a saw, but i have definately gotten my moneys worth...

lined cylinders, yes or no? on new Poulan Pro's

AV means antivibe, I mainly wanted to know if 4218 or current smaller
versions have a lined cylinder like the PP260. I am shopping for a cheap
rear handle saw that I can put the 16" Granberg clip-n-trim attachment on.
I have it mounted on an S25, but is a little nose heavy on a top handle saw.
I may buy a recon Husqvarna 435 if I can't find something much cheaper,
already have one and they are not bad for trim/limbing saws with a little tuning.

Do you mean a Chrome plated Cylinder? If that's what you're asking I'm not sure. Just think about how many corners Poulan has cut in recent years. If you do buy a modern Poulan, stay away from that Tool-less chain adjustment system.

4218

How did it run? My only experience with a recent plastic Poulan Pro was
the 260, but parts are cheaper than others, more available and they seem
to be OK for occasional use. My only experience with an Echo product
was a weed whip, the ignition module failed within a year.

still have a 55

I know it is not supposed to be a pro saw, but has lasted since the 95 build
date. I was asking about cheap occasional use saws.
The Makita 520 DCS has more grunt, just doesn't have the clean air/turbo
feature.
