Anyone know the legality of cutting or milling in old timber sales? I found some unique slices of wood in an old sale I want to go get on a rainy day. This on Minnesota state owned land, but Im wondering about forest service lands too...

You'll just have to ask the agency if you can get a firewood permit for that particular area. I wouldn't say anthing about milling as that is considered a commercial activity, even though you may be a hobby miller.

My state land office issues permits, but timing and location varies from year to year.
