What are you sticking the sanding drum into before using it. Also what grit sandpaper are you using and where do you get them self adhesive squares?

Check in the body repair section (bondo and primer dept) of your local automotive or tool store for the self stick abrasives.
"Pressure Sensitive Adhesive Abrasive - Discs" should get ya on the right trail!
