It is my understanding that a humbolt is safer on chicots than a conventional notch, due to the fact there is no "stall" as the face closes. With a conventional notch, there is a micro second stall as the face meets the stump, which can throw limbs, or the top. Where a humbolt is a more fluid motion because by the time the face closes the tree is almost on the ground.

All depends on the undercut angle, I like about a 45 degree on snags and about 30 degree on green.
