We have a very old sugar maple in our front yard. We have noticed the last few years that it is not leafing out and have now started to notice differences in the bark.... curling off... and several areas seem to be bare and moist almost ooozing something.... can you tell we're not tree people?!;) This is a very BIG tree with a 9ft girth and probably 60 feet tall. We LOVE this tree and are not sure who to call to tell us if we have a problem. Can you give us some suggestions?

Check the Yellow Pages for an arborist. Maybe under tree care. The National Association of Arborists & the International Association of Arborists both have websites that list arborists in the US, should be a few in your area. The tree does'nt sound healthy, but but you need to see it to really give an opinion.
