dual port 044 front cover

Stihl made the 044 in a Magnum version earlier this year. Whether or not it has a dual-port muffler I don't know. That would be my first source to look.

I think all the new 440's are called magnums and they do not have dual port covers. I dont think a dual port cover has been on a factory saw for a few years.

Mike rupley thinks that the 460 and 440 share the same cover. Is this correct? If so I could just use the 460 dual port cover.

The 460 exaust will fit the 440 not sure what must be changed. maybe the front cover will fit right on. I know another logger that has already done it.

I got the part number for the dual port cover. It is ( 1128-140-0801). cost is twenty bucks.

It alot easier to pay twenty bucks than to weld pipes on. Simply enlarging the outlet in the stock location doesnt look like a good idea on the 044 as it will have exhaust aiming right at the chainbrake handle. I enlarged my 036's by hand and it worked ok. I would rather have the factory piece on the 044. BTW Unles your tools are stolen, they did cost you somtheing and I am willing to bet it was more than a dime.LOL
