I have an Echo SRM260S straight shaft trimmer that I bought used but it has been a real workhorse for me. This morning I was running it, working fine, and when I went to restart after shutting it off, it was locked up. Absolutely no give when I attempted to pull start. I always wear headphone/ hearing protection so I can't say if it sounded any different before shutting it off but it cut and felt normal. I pulled the cylinder off thinking the piston might have seized but it slid right out with no scoring on piston or cylinder. The crankshaft will not budge, though. I have been using the recommended mix w/ Echo oil and am using it in my other equipment for about four years with no problems. Any ideas?

Thanks!

Thanks a lot, it was a small piece of metal stuck between the flywheel and the crankcase. Now if I can get the rings compressed to slip back into the cylinder, I'll be back in business!
Thanks again!
