During Tuesday's State of the Union address, President Obama poked fun at the federal government's incompetence in regulating salmon and promised reform:

"In the coming months, my administration will develop a proposal to merge, consolidate, and reorganize the federal government in a way that best serves the goal of a more competitive America...In the coming year, we'll also work to rebuild people's faith in the institution of government."

If President Obama is serious about reforming government, then we have a serious proposal that he can tackle right now.

Replace the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

Of all the government agencies that have become barriers to job creation and economic growth, the Environmental Protection Agency is the worst offender.

Since its founding 40 years ago, the EPA has transformed from an agency with the original noble mission of protecting the environment into a job-killing, centralizing engine of ideological litigation and regulation that blocks economic progress.

The EPA should therefore be replaced with a new and improved agency dedicated to bringing together science, technology, entrepreneurs, incentives, and local creativity to create a cleaner environment with a stronger economy that generates more American jobs and more American energy.

To learn more about why we believe the EPA should be replaced with a new Environmental Solutions Agency, read this article.http://www.americansolutions.com/energytax/2011/01/why-we-must-replace-the-epa.php

And once you do, we'd be very interested in your feedback, either by responding to this email or commenting on our website.

If together we can help get the word out about the job-killing nature of the EPA, and make clear that replacing the EPA with an Environmental Solutions Agency is a serious alternative, we will have a very clear test case for whether President Obama is really serious about rebuilding the people's faith in the institutions of government.

There is a long list of acronyms I think we could totally do away with...........

I'll believe it when/if it happens. There has been nothing but broken promises out of our government, if this is true. IMO:lying:.

He'll never do away with the EPA. Its the only "branch" of government he has total control over, isnt resposible to congress, and can write thier own rules and regulations. What he cant get passed through congress and what radical judges wont dictate through the bench can be implemented with regulations from the EPA. Afterall, everything everyone does takes place in the environment which needs protection.

I think the good news here is that the EPA is under the scope and the need to rein them in is appearent.
Also it seems there's adialog started to make some changes...we can only hope.

The Fed Gov won't down size anything.
Incrementalism is a vocab word we should all learn. The EPA was started for good reason. It cleaned up some areas/industries. Then they slowly took over more and more. Good luck reining them in or downsizing.
How many taxes have they done away with? Zero?? Once the Federals get their foot in any door it is a matter of time before the door opens wider and wider.
We are then happy to just reduce the percentage of growth of programs instead of actually cutting them back.

I agree the EPA has gotta go. Along with the Department of Education . But im not going to hold my breath on that one. :givebeer::givebeer::givebeer:

I would have to agree and all these state funded indoctrination camps, oops I meant colleges.
