fair spliiter rent??

I am lucky enough to have a good friend who has a splitter i can use on occasion and, would like to setttle up for using it, whats fair rent on a splitter from a rental center run these days? i know he wont take my money, but talked to his wife and i suggested she puts it away in the kid's college fund? suggestions?

I think it depends on how hard you use it. If you are running it 8+hrs a day $50-60 per day seems right. If you are not running it hard and you have it for more than three days, $100 total seems about right.

Of course you return it full of gas and oil.

If you want to put something towards the kids college fund, go and buy a savings bond and give it to them for the future. I am not sure but you can get a $100 bond for $50?
