excess, you're pretty close but you have to go further up where BRP turns into Skyline Drive. I've been up and down that trail several times as well. Matter of fact, my father-in-law worked for VDOT clearing out the route for HWY 64 through the BR mountains. He still has fond memories of it, even though it killed quite a few folks in the process. Funny enough, when he retired they wanted to give him a gold watch, but he said he'd rather have a Stihl so that's what they gave him. I need to find out which model.
