So I get a call from a buddy of mine......His boss is cutting down a tree and do I want the wood. Well sure I do:rock:

So I get out there and it turns out to be Black Locust!!
This was all the tops that he had cut up. The rest of the 3 trunks are coming down this weekend and I can pick them up early next week. BEst of all its not 10 miles from home. With the trailer and pickup full I had just shy of 1 1/3 cords. There is easily another cord to be had. :D
I love the smell of BTU's in the morning!!!

Nice and most of the work is already finished you cant beat that:bowdown:

Good deal!

A guy I work with asked if I wanted some honey locust, but I had to pass. He lives 45 minutes south of me! I had to say no!

Good for you, davej! "If it's free, it's for me." ;)

I was about to start a similar thread, but in my case, I have to do the cutting!
A vacant lot one block over had a nice, ~60' tall red oak come down, so I inquired about it and the owner said I'd be doing him a favor if I cleared it for him.
I went over there on Saturday with my little 460 Rancher and burned a gallon of fuel at which point my buddy showed up with another buddy and each with a little Homelite happy-homeowner saw in tow, his van, and a 5x10 trailer.
A great way to spend a Saturday. (The cold beer afterward was even better!)
Only mishap of the day was the ruts he left in my back yard after getting his E250 stuck (fortunately we got him out first try with a plank of 2x6 under the right-rear wheel).
After I cut the grass, I'll be heading over to cut the other half. I was tempted to post some pics.
