The wing on the left is too extruded. The head is too spherical. It needs a beak.
I saved a load of Yew from a removal job about 8 years ago. Hated cutting the tree but the client was adamant about it's demise. He wanted to carry out a major landscaping project in the garden of his two hundred year old plantation house and the tree was not part of his plan. I managed to get about twenty sections of wood. Averaging 6"x4"x40".
This owl is my first attempt at making something out of those pieces. I don't feel like taking it any further but instead I will start another one while trying to avoid the undesirable traits of this one. If anyone has any creative ideas about the other pieces, let me know?
