got a maul yesterday

I was going to get some more free wood the yesterday (gotta love freecycle), so I stopped off at the hardware store to get a maul. Turns out the wood was poplar, so no need for anything other than the axe. Splitting poplar after gum is a real joy! It'll make great kindling! The maul works nice for cherry, but bounces off the larger pieces of gum.
