359

Just curious-what carb does it have? Mine is a 2008 model and had the Walbro carb that has caused some grief.Got a new Zama carb and it ran like it should have from the start.I modded the muffler by drilling larger holes through the cat baffle and that worked out well.I really like my 359. You'll like it!

It has the Zama carb... I was concerned when when I checked the serial and found it to be an 09 model...

Congrats on the great looking saw!
Great choice.
When you go cut, if you bring your Poulan most likely it will just be watching the Husky do work. If it was me I would break it in until I put the new muffler on it. Just my opinion
Man I love me some Huskys......

I tore my other saw apart this afternoon cleaned all the filth and then modded the muffler.. I welded the stock ports closed then welded the inner support baffle solid and drilled out the stock holes and added 3/8 holes to the solid side that faces the bottom.. Then I drilled a new 5/8" exhaust hole in the cover and welded an exhaust pipe in... I'm gonna tune it out tomorrow should scream..(or blow up)...lol w00t: I think I've caught something on this board..:msp_scared:

You will learn more about saws than you can even imagine.
To me the best part is the people here, the guys here are very very generous with their knowledge, and you will get honest opinions.

I came here looking for info on a old Pioneer, now look.....

Yeah I can already tell that this group is top notch... great sharing of info here helps lots of people I'm sure..

Holy smokes...You two are loaded with saws...wow.. Thats how I am with firearms, last thing I need is another addiction.....:msp_scared:

Meant to post this in my last post.... here's what my Poulan looks like now... I was pleasantly surprised to see that my piston and rings look great.. I was pretty surprised by that after all its abuse...

Which Poulan is that? I have a little 2550 that I use in the smaller wood. It does a good/fair job. I got it for $10.00 at a garage sale. It's nice to have a smaller saw around.

Welcome to AS! I love my 359. It came with a 20" bar but it will get an 18" whenever I wear that one out. I think it will balance out better plus I have a few other saws for the bigger stuff. Nice reloading bench by the way. I wish I was that organized with my reloading.

Al, it sounds like you may end up sticking around for a while.

Your MM on the Poulan is a good start, but I think you will find it is too long and will interfere when you "bury" that WT in the big wood! A shorter pipe mounted at an angle on the side of the muffler is less prone to problems and also helps direct the sound away from the operator.
Since you are into MM, I would do one on the 359 when you get the non-cat muffler. That saw will really wake up when you let it breathe.

take out the internal baffle and weld ya a piece of 3/4" emt in like this. You'll want to wear some ear plugs though :hmm3grin2orange:

Good move on the non-cat muff, shorter bar and the gray gas cap...
I hate those green caps!

My 359 wears its green cap like a badge of courage.

I find Orange and green kind of go together.

The no-cat muffler is pretty restrictive in its own right.

So if I wanted to buy a catless muffler from Baileys or EBay how do I know which is which part? All I see are general listings for mufflers, doesn't say if it has a CAT or not.
