Got enough $ to buy a MS880...

Just got my bonus at work and w/ what I have left over from last year, I have enough to by a new saw...I need a MS880 like I need another hole in my head, but I want one...I could buy a 660 or a Husky ??? but I really don't have anything else I need right now to spend the money on...I have to spend it w/ some place that the company does business so the owner can right it off...What should I do?...:monkey:

The one thing I can tell you is I bought a 3120 thinking I was going to use it and mill with it. It never really happend. I think I have 2 tank through it. My 385 did most of the milling. Unless you really think your going to use it I wouldn't get it. I would get something I know I would use.

Look for a nice Sachs dolmar 166 and you love it. More torque than an 088.

he would pay just as much for one and stock for stock i dont think a 166 will hang with a 880...plus 166's are hard to find and parts are scarce.

But the dolmar will be worth more if he decides to sell it. In my opinion, the 880 is a much better saw than the 3120, I have owned many of both.

true the dolmar hold value.....what do you like better about the 880 over the 3120? my only experience is with the 084.

The 084 is a very good saw also. I like the 880 because of the lightweight flywheel, Cast aluminum muffler, inboard clutch, more low end grunt than the 084 or 3120 and for the largest difference of all---- when running long bars the husky will wear you out faster. The rear grip and front handle bar has larger spacing on the stihl than the husky so you have more leverage and better balance. Oh yea the stihl has a fully adjustable carb while the husky has only low speed adjustment. BLLLLLLAA

i always here buy a pre epa 3120 that they are the best..carb being 1 reason..

I manage a husqvarna shop in the little city im in. If you came to my shop wanting a 3120 I would tell you to find a stihl dealer and buy an 880, No lie.:monkey:

how close are the ported 395 and the 3120?

First off the oiler on the husky is just an override- not a manual oiler like the old Macs. Normally the bar fitment on the stihl isn't a issue because these saw are designed for large bars that you typically dont run on smaller saws.
The 3120 is a decient saw but I just could not justify buying on even a new one at my cost. The out board clutch works fine as long as the bars are kept short otherwise it becomes a pain in the arse to install a 72" chain on to an outboard clutch saw.
