How effective is a granuar fertilizer when applied on top of 3-4 inches of pine bark mulch when fertilizing trees? Does a heavy watering get this where it needs to go? Thanks, Jeff

Once you have determined how much N P K you want to apply you should be able to find a product to fit. Are these established trees in a mulched island, recently planted, or mature? What is the condition of the soil-sandy, clay and compacted? Have you had the soil tested? Turf over the root system?

My experience with granular has been favorable with established trees in a mulched setting.
