The average temp. here now is 10 deg. F. I was grinding 7 stumps the other day and found that it took noticeably longer. The stumps were elm and ranged from 20 to 30 in. in diameter. The teeth were sharp. My question is, does everyone else notice that frozen stumps take quite a bit longer to grind?

I have never noticed a difference in grinding stumps when tempertures are below freezing. Were they American Elm stumps? These do take a little longer than Siberian Elm because the grain is tighter in American Elm, also if they were dead, but not decayed or rotting, will slow a stump machine down.

Hope this helps

Larry
