Grinding wheels for barshop machine.

Those with barshops, where do you get the wheels for grooving/cutoff tool? Ive got plenty of the cup wheels and the sanding wheels.

I have never heard of this type of wheel. Are you talking about something to get in between the rails of a bar?????

Many moons ago we used to buy them right from Barshop. I have no idea if they're even around anymore. Seems to me they were out of WA. I did a net search and didn't come up with anything. When you're using that groove wheel, don't get in between the bar and the wall.

Yes if the bar grooving wheel just getts nabbed for a split second it hurl the bar out of the machine like a rocket i ended up with a few holes or should i say slits in the wall to prove it.

Mines got a stop fence on the table to prevent that Ive done it once or 3 times.

I rigged my old drill press to groove bars, and it works fine. I run a 4-inch dia 1/32" thick (.03125") cutoff wheel in a mandrel. I run the drill at 5000 rpm. The depth vernier on the press controls the vertical position of the cut, and I clamp a thin strip to the table behind the edge of the wheel to control the depth of the groove.
