just acquired a "new" Oly 251 Super that had a history of the starter hanging. Seeing as how the starter cord was frayed i replaced it and after a good cleaning reassembled. Now I know yur sposed to not pull all the way out when starting but sometimes i still do. sometimes the starter hangs up. My other saw, a sister to the new saw, doesn't hang up. I took the starter apart for close inspection and the only thing i could find was that there was slight play between the pulley and the spindle although not enough that i would think it would hang up. i lightly greased the spring and all moving surfaces and reinstalled. yep, still hangs up sometimes. other than that everything moves smoothly. anyone got any suggestions why? other than don't pull the rope so far?
