Hardy smoke stack glowing red

I am into my third year with my Hardy H2 and I have never seen my smoke stack glow red before tonight. There are times during the season when the wood inside is burning hot and I can see flame shooting out the top but I have never seen the stack glow red before. My stack is six foot tall, being two sections.

Has anyone ever seen this happen before on a Hardy? Do you think this was just a "hot set of logs" or am I having a problem somewhere?

Sounds like a classic case of a chimney fire... How often do you clean out your chimney?

yes i have seen it red and have seen blue flame coming out, creosote is most likely gone now. no problem.

My second year with my Hardy, no red smoke stack yet. I will ask my FIL and BIL, they have been burning with the Hardy for years. At least you should have a clean chimney now...

Do you burn 'green' wood?
