I looked at Acres chainsaw website at the V1-955 but there isnt a pic to compare to. The weight of the VI-955 powerhead is suggested to be 14.5 lbs. but this powerhead weighs 20 lbs. Do you know what model of Homelite this one is? Any help is appreciated.

I have no clue, but you came to the right place, there are a few old Homelite nuts here. I just posted to say welcoem and keep your thread from getting buried.

VI-944 or VI-955. My homlite books tell me that the 944 had a decomp. valve and the 955 didn't so that my help determine which one it is.

Also it reads that the 944 has a conventional flywheel type magneto while the 955 and early 925 have a capacitor discharge magneto so that should help you tell the difference too.

925's dont have isolation as far as I know.

Whats the chances you are weighing it with fluids in it? And/Or caked with oil soaked wood chips?

the full wrap bar will also add about 1lb.
