I have a 20 to 25 year old pine tree that was planted to close to the driveway. Several roots have made a mess with the asphalt (see attached pics). When I have this section of the drive replaced, I will have to remove three or four of these roots. Will this hurt the tree (ie will it die or fall over?).

Secondly, as you can see from the second set of pics, the tree has two trunks, one going straight up, and one leaning over my building about 15 degrees. Can the leaning trunk be amputated? Or will that kill it.

If the answer to either of the above questions is negative, then I guess the only alternative would be to remove the entire tree. I live in the Pasadena Ca area and would like someones best guess to the cost.

Thanks

I will withhold answers to your questions until we see the pics.

But on the pictures, what I do is open them in Paint, go to Image, then select skew/stretch, reduce to 25%, save and voila they are sized for submitting.

Hope that helps.
