Use has noting to do with it.....did you look at it???? Kinda looks like somebody sat it too close to the fire and it started to melt.

I did think they were fugly also, but somehow it's grown on me. Strange design, like an old Stihl 09/010/011/012 body with the odd rear handle and air filter...
I have the little fugly duckling, the 336. The 339xp is actually a tad more powerful. Both look fragile, but are pretty hefty.
It's actually pretty comfortable to use, and it's fun, fun, fun...to run...I've gotten fond of the way the rear handle is cocked back, can you ever get that saw in front of you and work comfortably...up high, where you wouldn't hold a larger saw up like that.
So far I've done mostly carving with mine, and kinda how I plan to use, but for log work. Mine is a very responsive, and a nicely balanced saw to use.
Some people don't like them at all though, and many are somehow disappointed, and if you don't care for it, your not alone. But judge the saw by how it runs, not how it looks.
The other thing about the saw, I noticed a couple weeks ago is that you can actually hold the saw with your left hand on the bottom of the handle pointing the saw straight out in front with the blade sideways. Because the handle bottom is wide and flat you can get great leverage, yet with the handle cocked back it's comfortable to hold with both hands. It is like a sword in that sense...I don't think Husky would recommend using the saw like that, but whatever...lol
It is not a great 1-saw plan though, just my opinion...I wouldn't want to only be able to use it, but...when I do use it the "Fugly Duckling" leaves a smile on my face...
