Can someone please help me make some sense out of this. I'm replacing the faulty oiler on my 281XP and having difficulty trying to check that I have all the right bits. My biggest problem at the moment is that I don't know how old my saw is, so I can't be sure which IPL I should be relying on. It is an older model, steel chain brake handle, and if anyone can tell from the serial No. it is 7400389.

I thought I could look up the part # stamped on a couple of the components and maybe pin it down that way. No such luck! The oiler is stamped 5036979 and the clutch drum is stamped up 5037256-01. I can't find either of these part numbers in any of the IPL's on the Husky website for the 281XP.

Help!!!

the 181 281 and 288 will all have the same oil pump. any PN will fit in your saw. they also take the same crank, clutch, gaskets, handlebars.. etc. hope this helps!
