Hoping someone on here can answer this for me…

I am rebuilding a couple 044 Stihl saws and found a difference in brake flags in my box of spare parts. The mount hole on the recoil side of each flag is different. Even though this is marked as “1128” part number, could it be for a different model of saw or was there a variation in the flags that I can’t seem to find while scouring the internet and my IPL’s for 044, 440, 046, 460 models? Any help would be appreciated.

They both have stamped part number 1128 792 9100 112

Not certain about the part numbers being the same, but the ‘112’ isn’t part of it.

I’m guessing a bit, but I think the one with the smaller diameter hole is the M4 cup type for the early 044. And the one with the larger hole is for the rubber bushing with steel insert like the 066/660

I believe you’re right, I tried an M4 cup screw from an 026 and it fits perfectly. Coincidentally I am putting together an older 044 slant fin with the 4mm recoil bolts so that flag will work perfectly. Thank you for the feedback.
