here's a dumb question

do you think they will ever produce a diesel chainsaw? or have they?

if they havent , think of the torque possibilities with a turbocharged deisel chainsaw.

i know it sounds stupid but had to ask.

To answer one question

Well yes there has been a diesel saw. It was made many moons ago by Comet/Jonsered and highly sought after. I have had leads on them but yet to secure one.

No I doubt they will ever develop a viable diesel saw. As you should know torque is not something newer saws have. They rely on speed, The EPA would have a field day with a diesel saw.
