G'day Tiny, how ya going?

I bet it's cold down Tassie. Hey, what sort of timber you got in those pics, looks like eucs?

AN Oh, welcome aboard, how did you find this place?

thanks for the replys
the timber is eucs, and we have a contract with norske skog, the timber that is very low quality goes to gunns.we also are getting quite a lot of power poles, sawlogs, and peeler logs.we have 3 other jobs 1 madill,1 pine and 1 chipping pulp logs.
cheers
ps yes it was very cold today bit of snow about

So tiny

Do you fell them with chainsaws or have they got some special machines?

And what do you do? Be cool driving some heated machinery eh.

we have 3 timbco feller bunchers for felling 95% of our quota, the other 5 is chainsaw fell.there are 3 rosin harvesters also which can fall if they have to
i drive one of the harvesters also :)

Man, you'd get a heap done in a day .... those eucs look really well planted, organised and uniform in size etc, that's not like natural bush logging is it?

What do they do with the land afterwards?

Do you know what type of eucs they are ... regnans by any chance?

hey ekka
the bush we are logging had a massive bush fire go through it in the 19--s,this is the timber that grew back after the old groth seeded them.the land then gets cleared and the forestry burns the waste.then they plant a new crop of what ever suits that type of ground.the eucs are delis.ill get some more pics of out the road further of the young ones that have grown back since.the timber that still stands is very faulty(scars rotten etc).
