Hibiscus "Bali Minfren" - edible?

Hi All,

The local hardware store has a closeout on these trees, going very cheap. I have a small yard but wanted to experiment with some kind of edibles.... I've read on the Web the Hibsicus tree's flowers can be eaten, "fruits" made into tea and the leaves can also be put in salads. Of course they added the magic words, not all varieties.

Allegedly the best Hibsicus for eating is Sabdariffa, the Roselle plant but I can't seem to find anything on this Bali "Minfren" variety..... does it make any difference? I can't seem to find anything on it.
The last thing I want is to make poison tea for visitors, lol.

I would stick to only eating the flowers until your certain about the leaves.

Why are flowers safer than leaves? And I'm wondering who would be able to tell for certain. However I've found the "Bali" is actually a new dealers variety of Hibiscus syriacus, or "Rose of Sharon", which is being toted just about everywhere as fully edible, leaves and all. That looks more positive (sorry about the color change):
